bummer

Wednesday, May 26, 2010

 I don’t know what the heck is up, but apparently, Arinso’s healthcard’s clinic exclusion are all Healthway clinics. [How many grammatical atrocities did I just commit there?]

I even called ahead & made an appointment, I thought everything was set. Oh well, bummer.

So I just had a scoop of BTIC’s double dutch. You know, as a consolation prize.

And anyway, I met w/ Veto ®.

Warning: Do not, under any circumstances, try Wendy’s Breaded Shrimp. It sucks. Three tiny pieces that taste like…well, cooking oil.

@ John Paul’s apartment. Tita Len’s birthday.

With tita Fe, Moi, Mikey & Ate Tin.

Also in attendance, for our consumption:

Roasted Chicken [gawa ni Kuya Bong. Ang sarap. Winner!]
2 cakes
Pancit Malabon
Ice cream

Appetizers: banana, grapes, hotdog, lumpiang shanghai & rice
Eye candy: Strewn all over the appartment are Kuya Ruel’s toys, never taken out of the box. A couple of Transformers toys, Incredible Hulk, Child’s Play’s Chuckie, World of Warcraft, Iron Man, & a lot more I can’t recognize because…well, I’m a girl] It’s like stepping into Carrel’s room in the 40-Year old Virgin. In the sense that there are a lot of boxed toys in mint collector’s condition. Ok?

I slept for 1-2 hours after eating. Ha!

[meanwhile, veto’s with Pao & Butog]

Sportsfest is coming up & someone organized a badminton gig @ Metrobadminton today. I got there & veto arrived a little later. He’s a surprisingly good [& mildly competitive] partner :]  Turns out, I’m a lousy player/partner.

It was fun, but the shower room sucks.

I bunked with veto at his place because my housemate’s parents ar staying at our apartment. Little do they know, all boyfriends of all three tenants, spend weekends there :]

After the game, we had dinner at Shang food court.

Appetizer: Fruit Magic Pasteurized buko pandan + Hen Lin sharks fin siomai

Main course: House of Minis steaks + another order of FM BP.

oh snap!

Monday, May 17, 2010

I feel bad. I can’t explain why I always treat my Ate Tin poorly. I just snapped at her this afternoon. It wasn’t her fault; I’m so unreasonable!

Veto ® spiked a fever last night. Chivalric as he was, he didn’t turn the fan away from us although he was having chills. If I had not woken up, I wouldn’t have known it & gotten a blanket for him. Come noontime we both had to go to work. He requested hot bathwater in this metro heat! Poor veto, my gentle giant! I’m sorry I’m only as good as an ill-tempered caregiver.

 USA Today has a first look at Academy Award nominee Saoirse Ronan (The Lovely Bones) as a 16-year-old killing machine in Joe Wright’s Hanna. In the film, Saoirse plays the title character in Hanna, who has been “raised from childhood to be the perfect assassin by her ex-CIA man father (Eric Bana) in rural Finland.” But this is NOT Hit-Girl. Wright is probably best known for his period dramas Atonement and Pride & Prejudice. Hanna is a different type of film: and action/adventure/thriller.

The film also stars Academy Award winner
Cate Blanchett (Robin Hood), Eric Bana (Star Trek),  and Niels Arestrup (Un Prophète).

veinticinco

Monday, May 10, 2010

The weekend had been so eventful, we just stayed home on my Monday birthday. We stepped out for dinner, catching pizza & shakes at Fruit Magic-Libis.

My FB page was flooded with greetings. Another con for technology is that your acquaintances can drop you a line as if they’re your close friends. It’s not that I don’t appreciate them, it’s just that I wouldn’t care to greet them on their special days even as the homepage broadcasts an event.

Yesterday, we redeemed Charles’ Mesuca gift certificates: 4 shorts for him & a swimwear for me. =b
Sweet veto® also got us a pair of comfy Happy Feet sneaks.

Ate Tin forgot to greet me on my birthday; and sought absolution by having me wake up to a 4-flavor ice cream the next day. Thanks Attterrr!

The photos from the wedding were amazing! [post-Photoshop, that is]

I’m psyched to see the couples’ official photos from the event. I think they took my photo as I was busy on the buffet table!

dreaming babies into life

I was sending Carol a text message as I relayed my dream to Veto®, of my sister saying ‘Ate, I’m pregnant.’

A few moments later she confirms.

Ate dear you’re one creepy sister. Psychic ka talaga. Taya ka sa lotto pag nagdream ka ng numbers. 6 weeks na ako, nalaman ko lang nung 2nd birthday ni Bugoy. Hindi pa alam nina Mamita…

Isn’t it way better to receive a 2-liter Pistachio-flavored frozen yogurt, than, say, a printed out birthday card from your Company signed by the G.M. who barely even knows you?

Thanks Arinso!

Better. Than. an Impersonal. Card.

[Haha]

birthday blues, [& turquoises]

Tuesday, May 4, 2010

I think I want to NOT go to work on my birthday. Because three quarters of the people who’d greet me is more likely delivering this subliminal message:
‘Pa-pizza naman jan.’

Agree?

*     *     *

I’m so loving this Elianto turquoise nail polish. I was never able to beautifully apply nail polish until I used this brand. There’s something different with the consistency, I think.

*     *     *

Top 10 people who’d ruin my big day if they FORGET to greet me:

Momma
veto ®
Eche
Coline
Tot
Chanot
Ate Tin
Jonna
Judith
Apol

*     *     *

Hey, I just realized, it’s the second year I’m celebrating my birthday as a non NBSB! Thanks Veto!

*     *     *

I gifted myself with the grey woven shortsleeved overcoat. I want nothing else but a big HUG from you.
[And thank you for the dresses + shoes]
